About Meridian
A practice that grew into a team
Meridian Rehabilitation Consulting began as one occupational therapist’s private practice — and became a multidisciplinary team serving six communities in Canada and a partner clinic in Ireland.
The founder’s story
Lydia Phillips graduated from UBC with a BSc in occupational therapy in 1990. Her first job was in stroke rehabilitation at Holy Family Hospital in Vancouver; from there she spent seven years at GF Strong rehabilitation hospital, including the spinal cord injury unit.
The private practice she started afterward grew, clinician by clinician, into Meridian Rehabilitation Consulting. Her own caseload still centres on functional capacity and cost of future care evaluations and brain injury case management — and she still mentors the occupational therapists across Meridian’s offices.
That history shapes how the whole team works: clinical depth first, careful measurement, and a plan that points at the life each client actually wants to get back to.
Five disciplines, one direction
Occupational therapy
Rebuilding the skills of daily living — from brain injury and stroke rehabilitation to sensory processing and seating prescription.
Speech-language pathology
Speech sound, language, fluency, voice, and cognitive communication therapy for children and adults, including stroke and brain injury recovery.
Kinesiology
Active rehabilitation that restores strength, balance, and range of motion after injury.
Counselling
Mental health support through recovery — PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the harder days in between.
Vocational rehabilitation
Vocational assessment, transferable skills analysis, and return-to-work preparation.
Registered, licensed, accountable
Our clinicians are registered with their respective regulatory colleges — including the College of Occupational Therapists of BC and the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.
